
From Ben Gurion airport to Tel Aviv center, the cheapest way is to take the train to Arlozorov train station in central TA and from there you can take a taxi (not immediately outside the exit of the station but further on the main road - see warnings bottom of this page) or a bus, to your accommodation or if you have a large luggage and want to be comfortable you can use the airport taxi service see the airport site here you can find flight information and also see transportation related links. In the city you either walk or use public transportation Driving in Tel Aviv is not advisable Parking in Tel Aviv - there is NO parking in Tel aviv - as all the big cities Tel-Aviv is packed and it is very difficult to find parking so unless you are a masochist don't drive a car in the city - better use your legs or a taxi or other public transportation. Bicycles - Recommended as the best way to see Tel Aviv apart from walking - there are a few places where you can rent a bicycle in the city the prices are around 40 Shekel per day. If you stay longer in Tel Aviv you can have a annual subscription for only 280 Shekel. a week costs 60 Shekel and weekends are 20 Shekel per day. Buses covers almost every destination no matter how small most of the buses start from the central bus station - the old central station is not a very nice neighbourhood you might prefer to avoid it and the new central station is not very nice neither but if you have to travel to Eilat or somewhere else with a Egged bus you might not have a choice - to Haifa and Jerusalem you can take the bus from the terminal near Arlozorov train station (see EGGED information) or try bus.co.il a website that has information about all the buses Organized day trips to the North, to Jerusalem or the Dead Sea are offered by Egged Tours, or United Tours Warning From the central bus station or train station never take a taxi that is not licenced and is hanging around looking for customers. This taxi not legitimate and charge a lot . You can go a few steps to the main road near by and stop a regular taxi with a number on it. These are licensed taxis from companies and they charge by activating the meter. |
