Mediterranean restaurants - local food Avazi 54 Haetzel Street Shunat Hatikva Tel: 03-6379918 Simple but very popular local restaurant located in a poor southern neighborhood Schunat Hatikva, serving grilled meat with large pita (Iraqi pitas) the specialty is the goose liver - closed on Saturday - $ Knafe 52 Chen Blvd Tel: 03-6960153 Middle Eastern Arabic style menu - serving humus and techina, tiny cut salad and grilled meat - cnafe is a desert made of goat cheese it is very nice but I don't recommend to try it here - beside the cnafe the food is nice and they serve a great breakfast with shaksuka (eggs and tomatoes spicy sauce) - $ Etzel Pini Behatzer 6 Nachum Goldman Street (right on the promenade to Jaffa) Tel: 03-6839198 Israeli and Mediterranean menu creation of the chef/owner of the restaurant. always wished to find. I sent some friends of mine that went to the flea market to Dr, Shakshuka and instead they discovered this little restaurant that serves good food for cheap prices. The style is Tripolitan and Mediterranean food I tried it last week (October 2006) and had a Hraime (spicy fish in kind of tomato sauce) and it was wonderful. * Dr. Shakshuka 3 Eshel Old Jaffa (near the flea market) 03-6391313 Located in Jaffa near the Flea Market, a Tripolitan & Marocan style restaurant serves Couscous and other spicy dishes like shakshuka which is the name of a dish made of eggs and tomato spicy sauce - Lunch Deals 59 NIS Sun- Sat from 12 to 5 PM $ Stephan Brown 99 Allenby Street Tel: 03-5604725 The restaurant is located in an old building on noisy Allenby Street in what used to be an old exclusive furs shop. It has a lovely Italian style garden and a great ambiance in the evening. The menu is middle eastern and Moroccan style. Lunch Deals start from 43 NIS Sun to Friday 12 - 5.30 PM $$ Suzanna 9 Shabazi Street Neve Tzedek Tel: 03-5177580 Nice terrace in the beautiful Neve Tzedek neighbourhood near the Suzanne Dellal Center. The food is in iraqi style, serves the traditional kube and various stuffed vegetables. $$ |
