Jerusalem the holy city

  what to do ?
For all the religious related sites in Jerusalem I don't bother as I am
sure you will find lots of information on the web and in guides.
However I enclose a website with a good presentation of Jerusalem
I also enclose a link to the website of Jerusalem municipality where
you can see the main attractions and find a nice map. A better and
more detailed map you can find in the atlas website Mapot.com

An interesting new landmark is the Supreme Court for its interesting
    architecture see my photo gallery

Herzel Museum which is a great experience and makes you really
understand how unbelievable the Israel State story is.
Also I recommend a visit the Nahlaot picturesque neighbourhood
(see photo gallery) and to Mahane Yehuda market for the taste and
    smell.
Rachmo Restaurant on Nahalat Shiva pedestrian sidewalk that
serves wonderful homemade style Mediterranean dishes. I have no
exact address or telephone but it is quite noticeable and has tables
outside too so you can't miss it.

See the new blog entry about the Free Tour of Jerusalem. See the
photo gallery of Jerusalem in the eyes of my friend from Holland who
spent a few days in the Old City

I recommend a great experience for the children and the whole family
is the Time Elevator it is fun and educative too.

Ein Carem a beautiful picturesque neighbourhood of Jerusalem - my
favorite - it has a nice restaurants and beautiful churches and
monasteries - on Saturday you can enjoy classical concerts in the
    Music Center of Ein Carem.

The biblical zoo is also very recommended – great for the kids

The Science Museum is a great experience for kids. It is educative
    and fun. Interactive and entertaining.

Mini Israel - A new attraction - It is a miniature of Israel including all
the major sights in the country.

Israel Museum in Jerusalem -  Greatest museum in Israel where you
can see archeology and art.  The Shrine of the Book  is one of the
major attractions. The museum has a special youth wing where
children can enjoy fun activities. This summer the Israel Museum
celebrates it's 40th Anniversary and there are many festivals and
activities check the program for special events or check by phone

The Jerusalem Hostel - Located in the center of Jerusalem on Jaffa
    road
if you don't want to spend much on accommodation and have a
central location this is the place for you. Nice and friendly hostel has
    a roof of course ...

The Austrian Hospice on Via Dolorosa in the Old City seems a very
interesting accommodation - it has a roof that has a spectacular view
    - I have not been there yet but plan to stay there when I will have the
    opportunity.

YMCA Three Arches Hotel - Centrally located just opposite the
famous King David Hotel in an old stone building that goes back to
the time the Brits ruled here and the atmosphere is still very much
like in a British colony -  it has a heated indoors swimming pool .

Notre Dame de Zion Monastery -  A  monastery that offers simple
accommodation inside the walls of the old monastery. -  located in
Ein Carem – the beautiful picturesque village near Jerusalem  – very
quiet simple and modest rooms and a lovely garden - breakfast
served by the nuns -Reservations between 9-12 tel   02-6415738

The Natural House in Ein Kerem a very beautiful guest house.

Shoresh  a pleasant out of town resort only 15 minutes from
    Jerusalem
I have been there this weekend (August 2005) and I recommend the
green hills cottage units which are new and have a nice balcony and
    view.

Yad Hashmona guest house  this is a lovely place to stay in  the
village Yad Hashmona  near Jerusalem it is a little village built by
people that came all the way from Finland and it has a finish
atmosphere: FAROUT (sof haderech in Hebrew :-) )

St. Andrew Scottish Guest house - I have been there in August 2006
and it was indeed a very unique and beautiful accommodation very
appropriate to inhale the holy atmosphere of Jerusalem. The location
is very central and it has a nice roof with a panoramic view.
