Haifa and the north coastal area

    What to do?
Haifa is on the mountain of Carmel
and has great views (Napoli style)   I
    recommend as A MUST    The
Bahayan Gardens – a visit to the
    magnificent shrine and gardens  of
the Baha'i Community is a wonderful
    experience and very  enjoyable for
the whole family. Learn more about
Haifa in the Jewish Virtual Library
    Website.
    The National Museum for Science
    Technology and Space - an
    interesting experience for the brainy...
tourists :-) and for kids. More about
    Haifa see Tour Haifa
    Rosh Hanikra grottes
    very beautiful and picturesque
    grottes, spectacular views and great
    opportunities for photographers.
    Acre (in Hebrew pronounces Acco)
an old Arab city by the sea on the
way to Rosh Hanikra. It is a nice
place to walk around the old city and
have a meal at one of the seaside
fish restaurants (I heard the best is
URI BURI I have not yet been there
but I plan to) The market is very lively
on Fridays see my Acre photo gallery
Dahliat il Carmel a druz village on the
    Carmel Mountain near Haifa is
interesting to visit and shopping. I
    wouldn't recommend the restaurants
there but it is nice to have a coffee
and baklava ( a sweet honey covered
kind of cake) in the pastry shop in the
    center of the picturesque market
Ein Hod -    An artist village where
artists live, create and sell their art. It
is very picturesque and has a nice
restaurant and café.   It is lovely to
stroll around the beautiful alleys and
    visit the galleries.
Caesaria is a beautiful touristic site
that is famous enough - definitely
worth a visit - archeology lovers and
just having a glass of wine
    overlooking the beautiful rocky sea
    shore it is wonderful
    Zichron Yaakov - A village on a
mountain south from Ein Hod. The
center is rather touristic in the nice
sense of the word with little shops
and restaurant. There is also an
interesting site The gardens of the
    Nadiv (meaning generous in Hebrew)
    - the gardens of the renown
    Rothschild which are beautiful and
have a nice spice garden  See some
    reviews about Zichron Yaakov from

    have both English sites.

    Places I recommend from my
    personal experience or my friends'
    experience
Beit Maimon - A little hotel situated in
a beautiful little village on the way
from Haifa to Tel Aviv – Zichron
Yaakov . I have not yet stayed in this
hotel because it was full when we
wanted to go but it seems very nice
and the village is great to stay the
night if you are on your way from the
    north to the south.

Beit Harub - a nice B&B near Zichron
Yaakov  in a little rural village not far
from Ein Hod simple and nice with a
    balcony viewing the fields.

    Alice's - A  beautiful B&B with
    beautiful views and secluded wooden
    houses
see more on the Galilee page

    Yaarot Hacarmel (Carmel Forests in
Hebrew) is a beautifully located luxury
resort and I believe it is wonderful to
stay there if you can afford it :-)

Eli Avivi Land - In the north of Israel a
few km north from Naharya on the
    wonderful Achziv beach tel - 972 4
    9823250
Eli Avivi, has founded his land. On the
remains of an old Arab village, this is
a far out place where you can stay the
night in rooms made of stone or
wood on a hill facing the sea. It is very
basic but unique, has a special
    atmosphere and access to an
enchanting beach  - The place is
simple and not very cheap but very
    unique  see photo gallery

    Where to eat
Haifa Hummus is very special and I
prefer. In the down town of Haifa
there is a popular restaurant called
Allenby where you can get Hummus
    and also grill dishes.

    I recommend a Hummus place I
    discovered recently called Abu
Shaker on 29 Hameginim Street that
    serves really delicious hummus and
    has very friendly service.

Uri Buri  in old Acco is where you can
treat yourself to the best fish and
    seafood restaurant ever. Prices are
not cheap  $$  - Old Acre near the
    light house
    Tel: 04-9552212

There is also in Acco a very good
place for hummus in the market,
Hummus Sayid - you will spot it by the
    long queue ....
