The Dead Sea Area

    what to do ?

Dead Sea area is indeed a
    must for every tourist
    visiting Israel and a unique
    experience.

First of all The Dead Sea
itself is a miracle. It looks
like a sea but it feels like
oil and you can float on it
    easily. Just don't splash
any of this in your eyes or
you will be sore and sorry.
    Try to read a newspaper
floating in the Sea or else
    it doesn't count you have
been in Israel :-)  and than
    you must climb to the
    Massada preferably in the
late hours of the night so
you can reach the peak at
    Sunrise. You can climb it
by foot by the Solela path
    and than descend with the
    new and comfortable cable
    car. For Information you
    may call: Tel: 972 8
    6584207

    When you descend from
    Massada you can walk
    around it between the
    Havarim which are white
    hills made of sand.

    Not far from Massada you
can visit Ein Gedi which is
    a beautiful Oasis in the
    desert and you can make
a trek to Nahal David and
    Nahal Arugot  -

    Where to sleep ?

There is a wide range of
    accommodations offers in
    the area, hotels, hostels
    and youth hostels see
    related sites. weekend
    zimmers

    I want to recommend the
    Ein Gedi Guest House
    where I have been this
    weekend (August 2006)
    and enjoyed very much. It
    is nice and friendly
    accommodation located in
    the Kibbutz Ein Gedi.  The
    rooms are spread around
    on the kibbutz beautiful
    grounds that are cultivated
as a botanic garden and it
    is lovely to walk around
    and sea various species
    of trees. The breakfast and
    dinner were also very
    good.

    Kfar Hanokdim is a unique
    accommodation village in
the desert that is ideal for
trips in the desert and for
    getting acquainted to the
    real Bedouin life style

    Another interesting place
to visit or stay a few days
is Zman Midbar which is an
    ecologic and holistic place
    built for peace and spiritual
    gathering
