    Alkalay
    1 Alkalay street, Basel area
    Tel:03-6041260

I don't know what is the secret of this
little café, but it definitely works  - in
spite of being opposite TA ambulances
center,  Alkalay  is a very popular café
and my favorite in the area. The
atmosphere is casual and relaxed. Many
of the clients are regulars. On weekends
the café expends and occupies the
whole sidewalk of the neighbor shops -
prices are less than average. I
recommend the sandwiches. It is better
to come during week days when the café
    is more cozy.

Toilets: nice & clean but upstairs on a
    steep stairway

    Arcafe
    35 Basel street
    Tel:03-5467001

Italian style Self Service café with wonderful
cakes and coffee that smells divinely.
Serves also nice sandwiches. I recommend
the goat cheese with tomatoes and also the
éclair that is really a rare treat  and the
almond croissant is one of the best in town.
There is another branch of Arcafe in fact
the first one on Rotschild Blvd.

Toilets: designed & clean in the Medical
    Center next door

    Comme il Faut
    Hangar 26 Tel Aviv Port
    Tel: 03-5449211

Used to be a small café on North Dizengoff
next to the elegant Comme il Faut haute
couture shop. In the port it is a spacious
designed café with a vast terrace on the
deck. Serves a colossal breakfast in
antique porcelain plates and cups. Nice for
a branch or a light meal.

    252 Ben Yehuda (Yermiahu corner)
    Tel:03-5444154
    also on Dizengoff where Legendary
    Kasit used to be

Coffee house and bakery that serves
delicious home made like cakes and
pastries. It is named after the address of
the original branch which is at the other
end of Ben Yehuda on Idelson Street
which by the way is closed.

    Toilets: Upstairs spacious and elegant

    Lulu
    3 Alkalay street Basel area
    Tel: 03-6020805

Very beautiful design with chairs and tables
in white colorful flowers and a wallpaper
inside that looks like a library  - the white
design has a spring flourishing look which is
a nice change to the dark  designed café
around  - nice to sit there on a sunny
morning when it is not too hot and have a
    cup of excellent coffee.

    Moveing
    305 Dizengoff (Yermiahu Street Corner)
    tel: 03-5444434

The concept of this café is a mix of a
coffee place with a DVD library upstairs.
A nice place always quite packed.
Serves a very good carrot cake . The
breakfast of Moveing is nice and
    includes freshly squeezed orange juice.

Toilets: 2 cabins nice and clean upstairs
    in the DVD shop

    Jeremiah
    306 Dizengoff (Jeremiah Street Corner)
    Tel: 077-7931840

Trendy cafe on the northern part of
Dizengoff that has the special touch, the
design, the atmosphere that make it a nice
to be place. The food is also  good and not
expensive. They serve a nice shuk salad
(salad of the market) and also the spicy fish
    are great   .

    Toilets: upstairs 2 cabins

    Gilad & Daniel Cafe bistro
    300 Dizengoff Street
    Tel: 03-6043849

In the northern part of Dizengoff a
street cafe with an authentic French
bistro menu. I tried the breakfast and
the tarte tatin and they were great.
Service is friendly and sometimes the
owner Mr. Daniel is you waiter so what
    can you ask more :-)
    Revisited yesterday (February 2009)
and tried the lunch menu which is very
nice and good value I had soup,
couscous and a drink for 54 Shekel !

Toilets: 2 cabins with nice Parisian drawings

    La bonne Patisserie
    40 Bazel street

Genuine French patisserie cafe. This is
another result of the wave of French
people that invaded Tel Aviv in the last
    years. Delicious French pastries and
cakes to take away or to consume on
spot sitting in the relatively quiet Bazel
square. It is just next to the Italian
restaurant Rustico so what I did is after
having a nice business lunch there I went
to the Bonne Patisserie for deserts :-)
